Job Description

Support NGA in Springfield, VA as a Geospatial Data Analyst with programming skills or an active Geospatial Data Scientist with a focus on the Maritime Safety mission. Must be able to work in a dynamic, team environment supporting critical maritime GEOINT activities. The client seeks to quantitatively improve the mission areas of Maritime Features, Surfaces, Publications, Events, Dissemination, Source Assessment, and Metrics through existing operational activities.

Work includes:

  • Collect, process, and perform data analysis
  • Integrate, centralize, protect, and maintain data in a DBMS
  • Clean, improve, and organize data
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner
  • Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner using story-telling / visualization
  • Create / maintain tools to extract features from a variety of sources including raster to vector, vector to vector, text to vector, and text to database
  • Write / maintain Python Scripts in ArcGIS to improve efficiency of the production process

Desired Skills

We are looking for candidates who are versatile with a positive attitude, inquisitive nature, drive to learn new things, and the innate interest in solving puzzles and complex problems.

Job Requirements

  • Experience programming with the ability to write/maintain scripts, including Python and JAVA scripts and familiarity of querying with SQL
  • Knowledge of data science, including areas of data services, modeling and analytics
  • Knowledge of geospatial data management including data type conversion; coordinate systems (latitude and longitude, UTM) and their conversions; knowledge of projections and their properties and conversions
  • Experience working with data quality control tools including ArcGIS Data ReViewer
  • Proficiency with ESRI Workflow Manager WMX and TAM
  • Experience combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and digital data formats.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and ArcServer. Knowledge of database systems and architecture (ORACLE, PostgresQL, NoSQL (MongoDB), Microsoft Access)
  • SQL scripting

Your duties in this position will include:

  • Providing real time 24/7/365 support in a shift work environment as an integral part of a team
  • Conducting geo-locational mensuration functions, extracts coordinates and positional relationships from digital database systems
  • Maintaining and using geospatial databases
  • Compiling, segregating, evaluating, researching, interpreting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information to support operations
  • Preparing, maintaining, and presenting intelligence displays, reports, and briefings with the creation and use of visual aids (graphics, charts, etc) and drafting, editing, and proofreading documents for publishing
  • Applying the TC/PED processes

Job Requirements

To be successful as an FMV Analyst on this project you must:

  • Work rapidly in a high tempo, high stress environment that often requires multi-tasking
  • Attended and successfully completed a basic intelligence course
  • Be a team player – you will be on a team and others will depend on you to show up and do good work
  • Demonstrate quality oral and written communication skills.
  • Well-versed in the use of internet relay chat
  • Familiar with data mining using M3, open-source reporting and other intelligence sources
  • Have experience or familiarity with ArcGIS and RemoteView or comparable ELT software
  • Knowledge of intelligence organizations and systems; collection and reporting systems, intelligence information sources; techniques of identifying, collating, evaluating, and analyzing information
  • Knowledge of geographical and cultural aspects of foreign countries; military capabilities weapon systems
